Land Grant University Consortium

I am part of the team that represents Cornell at the Land Grant University consortium, a strategy from the US Government to incentivize policy dialogue and to promote rural development during post-conflict in Colombia.

Inspired by previous missions that successfully contributed to develop the flower sector in Colombia during the late 60’s (“Nebraska Mission”), we are promoting strategic partnerships and programs such as Cacao for Peace.

Cacao for Peace

The overall objective of the Cacao for Peace initiative is to improve the cacao value chain in Colombia by strengthening key agricultural institutions in the public and private sectors through cooperative research, technical assistance, and extension education.

Colombia can take advantage of the rapidly increasing global demand for chocolate and become a global supplier of cacao, the essential ingredient in chocolate. This initiative will create economic opportunities for the U.S. chocolate and confectionary industries, American agriculture, and thousands of Colombian farmers and their families.
